What is Coniferous Forest?
Coniferous forest is a type of Biome, which has two other names:
Boreal & Taiga. The name Taiga comes from the Russian word for forest. This habitat is usually found in mountain areas in the northern hemisphere. They are evergreen trees which means that the never shed of their leaves. The conifer trees in the Coniferous biome have really thin and waxy leaves. The wax saves them from drying and freezing. The dark colour of evergreen leaves allow them to absorb heat from the sun and also start photosynthesis early. Living in the taiga is really lonely and this habitat covers 15% of the earth's land surface.
